A Must Read! Sep 04, 2009
By John T. Richardson
"JTR"
This is the most comprehensive resource of knowledege the tobacco industry has even seen. From the history of tobacco to the many steps taken to bring luxury tobacco into the hands of aficionados world wide, The Tobacconist Handbook will help educate retail tobacconist and manufactures, and delight tobacco lovers everywhere! I have read the book from cover to cover and learned not only from the text, but the many illustrations of tobacco fields and the art of production. As a lover of cigars this is a great read!

Great Cigar Book for Beginners Mar 26, 2010
By Rachel L. Stover
"cigar chic"
If your looking for the inside scoop on the tobacco industry specifically in Cigars this is your book. This book provides all the details tips, key leanings etc. The best part about this book is the fact it part of the curriculum for TU. Tobacconist University. If you start learning and want to become a certified tobacconist your already a head of the game. I have the Cigar Companion put together by Cigar Aficionado, and although the book contains similar info, i like that this book cuts a portion of your cost when considering tobacconist certification. Cigar Companion focuses alot more on tastes and ratings of premium cigars more for a connoisseur than a beginner.

Excellent - Its About Time Oct 05, 2009
By Captain Green The Tobacconist Handbook is an excellent resource and educational tool and is a long overdue publication. As a Certified Tobacconist, I use it frequently. If you are in the profession, passionate about premium cigars and other luxury tobacco, or just casually enjoy them or are interested in learning more then this book is for you! A great deal of time and effort went into its creation and I recommend it whole-heartedly. It would also make a great gift if there is a cigar-lover in your life.

Not For The Pipe Enthusiast... Apr 12, 2011
By Ambergris
"John Thomas"
I recently had a chance to sit down and thumb through this book at a local store. As far as its content is concerned in respect to cigars, I cannot really be any judge of that. I am not a avid cigar smoker, and probably wouldn't know I am smoking a great cigar unless someone told me I was. I can tell you that there is plenty of information here concerning all manner of cigars, and the cigar industry, as well as an education in tobacco, different sizes, styles, advice, history, etc. But there in lies the problem when it finally gets around to the second part of its title, pipes and pipe smoking. This title offers up a mere small chapter out of the whole book devoted to pipes and pipe tobacco. As a life long pipe smoker, one thing I can tell you for sure is that a true and thorough education in cigar and cigar tobacco will do you very little good in knowing anything about pipes and pipe smoking should you ever decide to defect or diversify your pleasure. In short, this book is not at all worth the price even used if you are considering it as a source of pipe information. For a much better book that can be usually picked up used at cheaper price here on Amazon, may I suggest "In search of pipe dreams" that I am including a link to at the end of this review. It's the best reference source for pipe smoking I have run into, and I personally own it. This Tobacconist Handbook may be a good source and entertaining read for cigar aficionados, but it's my opinion that pipe smokers should just allow it to go up in smoke... In Search of Pipe Dreams

My son, the tobacconist, said this is THE book to have Nov 29, 2010
By M. Reith Bought my son, a cigar enthusiast this book. He was delighted. He said that it answered all of the questions he had been struggling with. He was most delighted with the content provided by the various cigar families. My son keeps us with the latest products and this is what he needed to keep abreast of terminology and trade.
