The Truth You Can't Betray

PG County, yeah---Ward 9 is what it is called by some people in D.C. Back in the day, it was the spot in Maryland people from the city moved to when they “made it.” I had my mind bent on making it outside the D.C. Metro EEERIA. Even when I suffered depression and tried to combat peer pressure, my dream extended beyond imaginary lines that charted D.C., Maryland and VEE AY. Despite my adversities and roadblocks, I started creating pathways in places most people will rarely see outside their blue and orange subway train windows. Even though I’m on the fast track, this is my walk. This is my story. The truth you can’t BeTRAY. “...AN ENCOURAGING STORY OF DETERMINATION AND DESTINY. READ IT AND BE INSPIRED.” ~ Michel 'shellichell' Wright

It was very interesting to read about this young man's journey. It can be a great inspiration to all. I'm proud of Tray for becoming the man that he is today. Keep up the good work.

5Wonderful Experience!  Mar 21, 2009
By Eugenia K. Sheppard "Da Shepster"
I was very enthused by reading this book. I met Tray at the Reagan National Airport while he was promoting his book. I intended to purchase the book, but the ATM was down and we had already gone through security to our gates. He generously autographed the book and gave it to me for free! He said his story had to be told at any cost. He is a wonderful human being and if given the opportunity, EVERYONE needs to take the time out to read this story! It was packed with unbelievable events in his already awesome journey. This is definitely a different version than I would have ever expected that character to be on "The Wire". My only regret is that it took me this long to write a review. THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW THIS STORY! It was also very well written. God Bless you Tray!

5Excellent Story  Jan 26, 2007
By Elaine L. Chaney "Pootie"
I truly enjoyed reading "The Truth You Can't BeTRAY. Your story was so exciting and it really shows young people that they can either choose a good road to follow or they can choose the bad road. I'm glad you chose the good road and all of your hard work paid off. You have come a long way and continue to go forward and be as successful as you are.

Great JOb! I love the fact that you don't have any cursing in the book this really makes the book enjoyable and I can share it with my kids.

5Literature as art activism: Tray Chaney is raising awareness and giving support  Aug 22, 2011
By Mercedes Diane Griffin Forbes "DG Speaks"
Local area talent Tray Chaney speaks to the Examiner.com about his first book, `The TRUTH you can't BeTRAY', a book aimed at motivating young people to stay positive. Tray is known for his powerful portrayal of `Poot` on the HBO series 'The Wire', a character often described as the `sole survivor,' of the drug organization he belonged to. Much like his character, Tray is a survivor and aims to use his success to raise awareness about the social issues faced by local area youth.
