2Buyer Beware  Sep 02, 2008
By Peter Gallo "Peter"
Be careful before you buy. This is a reference book filled with disc reference material ONLY.....If its a discography you want for a group then buy this book. Its the type of info that should be on "list" rather than a book. The book offers no history of any group just the groups name, members name and city where they started. If you looking to read and learn about a group and their careers this is NOT the book to buy.The title does say "reference guide" but not for discs only.....Its the type of book a radio station would use to give some filler to their dj's....Or a collector of 45's to determine the value of their records.

5The Ultimate Times 2!  May 15, 2008

Be careful on this one! It's easy to miss that this is a TWO-VOLUME set of books, each available separately. BUT YOU NEED BOTH -- this alphabetical listing is split in half!

I can't begin to imagine the effort that went into compiling this huge volume of data -- and 'volume' is the operative word here. For gosh sakes, you get the 2 volumes of approximately 600 page each for just shy of 60 bucks.

Anyway, for those of us who are not only music lovers and collectors, but also fanatics about the details, this Ultimate Vocal Group Harmony Reference Guide is the mother lode. I've been a lifetime, multi-genre collector, and I could never wait until the next reference guide (for classical, rock, doo wop, jazz, you name it) came out! This one rocks! And this author has made it easy, believe it or not. He provides the data you need in an easily readable and understandable format.

A definite winner that will "bring you back" -- especially if you realize you need to buy both volumes :-)

Excellent source of information about doo-wop groups. What I thought I knew turned out to be very little about the various groups. WOW!!
