5Finally! A Fun, Eye-Opening Financial Guide!  Oct 07, 2009
By D. Kennedy
Having been in this business too many years to admit to, I can tell you I've read book after book from the Wall Street talking heads. What you usually get is blah, blah, blah about the same old thing...asset allocation, make sure you own stocks and bonds to be "diversified," Nobel-Prize winning Modern Portfolio Theory, don't pay fees, blah, blah, blah. In this easy-to-read guide book, Vanclef comes out with a refreshing look at how wealth is built - and how to keep it in good and bad times. His multi-legged table metaphor really resonates as he explains how to keep different streams of income coming from different investments - and none, by the way, tied to the ups and downs of the stock market.

My favorite part was in Chapter 4 - a part called Brokerisms. What a laugh! And how true. For anyone who is fed up with what Wall Street know-it-alls spit out in the Journal, on Bloomberg or on CNBC, pick up this book and get the real deal - BRAVO to this author for having the guts to tell the truth!

5The Wealth Code - Changing Lives  Nov 14, 2009
By Mark Trewitt
In reading this book, I asked myself how the application of these strategies would impact individuals from a physical (vs. fiscal) perspective. The simple answer - longer life. Think about it - if you apply these strategies in your personal financial and investment planning, your will have 1) less risk 2) less taxes 3) lower fees and 4)higher cash flow. The net result of this will be......LESS STRESS! Whether one is planning to work thirty more years, or is already retired, having less FISCAL stress will have real and dramatic PHYSICAL benefits, as the incidence of life threatening illnesses, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. will be much, much lower.

I had the privilege and opportunity to "mentor" with Jason Van Clef in May of 2007, attending one of his dinner workshops and sitting in on a number of client meetings. Jason's passion for excellence is unparalleled, and that shows in the finished product of "The Wealth Code". The experience has not only had a dramatic, positive and permanent impact on my financial services practice (our practice grew by over 180% DURING 2008 and as much again in 2009), it has positively impacted the lives of over one hundred clients. These are families that have benefited dramatically from the direct application of the financial strategies and concepts that are detailed in this book. I maintain close ties with other financial advisors who have had the same opportunity, and the feedback I continue to hear is quite the same as my personal experience.

A final word to any individual investor reading this book - we are in challenging times economically, unprecedented in the pace and type of change we are seeing. Choosing to "stay the course" with flawed Wall Street philosophies and strategies may not be very wise. Ignore the fiscal impact of 2008 and the "solutions" that have been foisted among the U.S. taxpayer at your own peril.

Thank you, Jason, for your vision and your passion!

4A fresh perspective on personal finance  Oct 22, 2009
By skipper
Stories, stories, stories is the main thing I want to say about this book. Enjoyable analogies which make it a very easy and informative read on a different viewpoint of wealth accumulation and protection I have never seen or heard of before. One which made me almost smack my head a few times, thinking duh, why haven't I thought of this.

I've read numerous personal finance books and they fall into the same repeated themes. Save more, diversify into mutual funds and so forth. This author seems to be talking from the heart about strategies which he has seen work with his clients, namely strategies not related to the stock market. Investments which are ownership of real assets and using many types of investments combined to form a strong financial table as he metaphorically describes. A table with many legs on it. He says Wall Street (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) are only one leg of many which should be used in a financial table and too few people know what the other investment classes are, IE: oil/gas, real estate, notes., and thus have "unstable" one legged tables not designed to withstand bad economic cycles like we are currently experiencing.

One beef to make is when reading it, you are carried from chapter to chapter easily until the middle of chapter 7. The author does suggest to skip this section and continue to the following chapter and stay big picture, but I guess I missed the direction the first time through this book, (I've read it twice), and the middle of chapter 7 tends to drag with descriptions of all the asset classes you can invest in. It is important to know these to understand the concept of this book but my suggestion on future editions is to make the skip point more clear OR put the asset class descriptions in the back of the book as another appendix.

The book does finish strong with more great analogies and I feel I can impliment his strategy pretty easily. Good case samples demonstrate how to build your own financial table using his concepts.

I would give it 5 stars for a very creative and I believe useful approach to building and solid portfolio but I'm picky and would like the asset class descriptions in the back of the book. Bottom line, I would recomend this book as being one of the most original new perspectives on finance I have read in a long time.

5This book is required reading if you want financial freedom  Nov 04, 2009
By B. Colman "Ira M."
After reading Jason's book, I realized his message was so clear and easy to understand that it should be required reading for second grade children. If we educated our young in financial responsibility, instead of teaching an outdated curriculum of irrelevant data that we were taught in school generation after generation, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in economically today. This book gives us the opportunity to chart a correct course in achieving financial freedom and living a stress free quality life.

Jason mentioned in his book that on November 16th 2008 he hosted a appreciation dinner for 250 of his clients and guests. My wife and I were in attendance and all we did all night long was celebrate our good fortune in having Jason be our financial advisor Guru.

We met Jason in the first part of 2006 and he convinced us to get out of the stock market and essentially terminate a 16 year relationship we had with our financial advisor at Smith Barney. Because we invested in Jason's recommendations, we didn't lose 45% of our entire portfolio (which we would have if we didn't make the change) and instead have averaged a plus 12% in the last 3 1/2 years.

What really makes Jason so remarkable is his sincere interest in helping every single client he has in obtaining financial freedom for themselves and their families. He really found his calling and passion and we saw that the first time we ever met him. We have much gratitude and appreciation for Jason Vanclef and highly recommend you read this book and make an appointment tp meet with him and start steering your financial ship in the right direction.
