The Weed and the Water Fountain

On Valentine's Day 1979, a homemaker and mother of four, every value held dear, every belief upon which her philosophy was based shattered within the reverberation of her husband's words, "I don't love you anymore." Committed to providing a happier lifestyle for her children, she moved to the Sunshine State, leaving the bitter winters of northern Illinois and the bitter sting of "giving away" their home to avoid foreclosure. "Things are not like they seem to be," her father's words of wisdom to her as a child, their profound meaning began to unfold over time, motivating her to search for truth to pass the test called "life." Faith provided the driving force, anger the energy to maintain, and fantasy the soul food of hope, enabling her to cope with financial struggle and love/hate relationships until she experiences the true epiphany of Self. Spicy, humorous and poetic, The Weed and The Water Fountain embraces the essence of passion and the significance of dreams. A "must read" memoir!

5FABULOUS!!! An absolute MUST-READ!!!  May 15, 2008
By Mrs. McGillicuddy "MMG"
This book should be on the New York Times Best Sellers list! It has everything I look for in a great book and more! It is beautifully written and impossible to put down, the kind of book you just don't want to end. "Desperate Housewives" has nothing on this real-life tale -- an absolute MUST-READ for all women (in or out of relationships), even my husband (who is not a reader) couldn't put it down!

5Emotional Adventure  Feb 15, 2009
By Craig Nagel "Fellow writer"
"This is not a book for the prudish or the faint of heart. It's the honest story of a strong, high-spirited woman's journey through the emotional mine-fields of modern life; a story by turns candid and raw, humorous, romantic, righteously outraged in the wake of broken promises and betrayals, and centered on the author's commitment to raising her children and keeping them from harm. Like a contemporary Scarlett O'Hara, Doering's hard-won evolution toward spiritual insight and inner peace defies all odds, and rewards the reader with unexpected gifts. The book will resonate with special force for single moms and ought to be required reading for all deadbeat dads. It's a genuine tribute to the resiliency of the human heart."
