Ian Fleming would have loved this Nov 12, 2009
By M.A. Kruchkov "The Winds of October" plays in a period of post-war Greek history that is, in general, poorly known in the USA. It is a tale of intrigue and revolution in the Greek civil war that followed the end of World War II in the rest of Europe. It is one of a growing number of fictionalized memoirs emerging from the ranks of retired US intelligence officers who fought the SECRET Cold War. It reminded me of the James Bond books except for the fact that Bond would have spoken better Greek than did the novel's protagonist, Major Hall of the US Military Mission in Athens. The tale follows a plot line that Ian Fleming would have loved, and that the makers of the James Bond films could easily exponentiate to the silver screen. Well worth the time to read.

Jamws Stephens' new book is really, really good!!
The reader is put right in the middle of a turbulent period and the way the book is written, the reader can actually see what's going on!
Winds of October should be on every book list!

By James R. Stephens If you enjoy international espionage/counter espionage fiction that doesn't take weeks to read, then you'll enjoy this little book that's perfect for that trip from San Francisco to Hawaii. It's short but will "tickle" your mental faculties. I know the author and he's "been out there," so writes from experience.
