Am I even reading the same book here? May 21, 2008 This book may very well have a stunning premise and riveting action, but I'm finding it hard to get beyond the stilted, amateurish dialog. The author also chose to use third person present tense, an odd device to use, especially in this sort of story. The net result is that it comes off like something an eight-grader might write:
"A woman's voice is heard, painfully crying and sobbing, as she holds her head in her blood stained hands. "Heee's dead! Uhhhhh! Heeee's dead! My son is dead! Please take him down, take him down!"
"The old man thinks himself rude to the Tender, and hopes he might get another chance to talk to him and explain. The old man hasn't spoken to anyone since his journey through Italy. He begins to reminisce."
Before buying this book, I strongly suggest that you read an excerpt first.
Constantine meets Raiders of the Lost Arc Apr 24, 2007 This book is such a great adventure! It combines detailed accounts of our world history, religions, and geography and shares with the reader a living story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys conspiacy and intrigue and an open mind to what might have been.
Captivating, Thought-Provoking Novel from New Author Joel Pesce Sep 25, 2006 The "Wormwood Conspiracy" is a science-fiction, religion, mystery novel with even a bit of romance. I was surprised at how quickly I became involved in the story, and how devoted I was to the characters by the end. Pesce is adept at drawing the reader in and making her feel as if she is part of this important adventure. Although I got caught up a few times in editorial issues, the story is so engaging, it is well worth the read. A good first novel from an author who should continue to develop his writing--I am eagerly awaiting the sequel.
An enjoyable read. Aug 03, 2006 This book is worth the buy. The author spins a fascinating, exciting tale, centered around both the Shroud of Turin and a group of characters who are easy to identify with. There is a nice element to the plot, in that there are parallel stories being told, set in both the past and present, each of which are suspenseful, dramatic, and humorous all at once. It is a love story, adventure, and suspense, and is appropriate for both teen and adult audiences. This book tells only half of the story, and the resolution is intended to set up the next installment (this is part 1 of 2), but does this nicely with a twist. You won't be able to put this book down once you get started, you'll be anxiously awaiting part two when you finish, and you'll want someone you know to read it as well, to speculate and discuss with.
Overall Themes: Suspense, Love Story, Artifacts and Christian Relics, Conspiracies.
Recommended Readers: Adults and Teens, Conspiracy Theorists, Christian Audiences, Suspense Lovers.
I would also recommend this as a group read for a youth group as it has some Christian themes and would be the basis for some discussion while an enjoyable read at the same time.

Captivating... What Happens Next?!! Jun 18, 2006 The book, Wormwood Conspiracy, by Joel Pesce was very captivating. I am not a reader, but a friend told me about this book and I did read it and actually liked it. He writes very descriptive and expressionate that I could picture every thing that was going on in this Biblical/Fiction book.
I can't wait to see what happens next! And I concur with the other reviewers that this would make for a good movie.
