5Meaningful and Insightful  Nov 13, 2009
MEANINGFUL AND INSIGHTFUL

When I was in grade school, one item of the curriculum was always brotherhood. We had appropriate songs to sing and discussions about this. Now, with the increasing concern about being PC and about statewide exams, it seems that even for the lower grades this is not as much of a concern for our children.

How wonderful to find a book that prepares little ones for these ideas so that they understand brotherhood and tolerance even before they start school. The Yellow Elephant is a perfect friend to empathisize with, even for little ones. The Yellow Elephant: Teaching Tolerance To Tots

5Children learning acceptance of others  Nov 10, 2009
I purchased the book for our local library. At a recent Saturday group reading the children's understanding of the book and their questions after the reading impressed me. I think it is an excellent book for group readings and discussion among young children.

5Adorable new book!  Nov 08, 2009
This is a very charming and wonderfully written story that teaches tolerance to young children. The yellow elephant will melt your heart. The illustrations are colorful and imaginative. My daughter is in Kindergarten and my son is in nursery school. They both love to look at the book themselves as well as having me read it to them. You will find yourself chanting "I'm really not a Yellowphant, I'm just another elephant" for days! Highly recommend this book to anyone with young children.

5A BOOK TO TREASURE!!!  Nov 03, 2009
I bought this book for my 2 grandchildren ages3-5 (a boy and girl) They actually sat still through the whole time while I read them this absolutely precious story. We sat on the floor and they couldn't stop pointing to the adorable pictures. Disney move over, I haven't seen illustrations like this since Bambi. The lessons they will learn from this gem of a book will follow them all thru their lives. I recommend this book to you and all my friends so they can share the satisfaction I felt when I saw the joy of happy smiles on my grandchildren's faces because of the very happy ending. Of course I had to read it to them a second time.

This is an excellent meaningful book and should be read in classrooms throughout the U.S.(as well as other countries)

Childrens' values are instilled at a very young age, and what a wonderful little story this is, illustrating understanding and caring for everyone, without prejudice.
