This Lifetime on Earth Oct 24, 2005
By Richard Fuller In the introduction of his new book, author, seeker and guide Sandy Andrew writes, "In
my lifetime of experiencing emotions and events, I have learned that the universal laws and
the energy of the universe which we all belong to are imperative in bringing success and
fulfillment in our lifetimes." This Lifetime on Earth explains who we are and why we are
here in a fashion that is, all at once, beautifully written, direct, cogent and clear.
The key, we learn, are the universal laws "...meant to guide the spirit and if they are
followed, your lifetime and existence will be more balanced, loving and fulfilled, for the
most part. Observing these laws can assist you to truly achieve spiritual growth, which is
the essence of your existence and the reason why you are here on Earth."
This Lifetime on Earth shows us that, "All life revolves around universal learning, no
matter what religion or faith you belong to; it matters not if you are a Christian, Muslim or
Jew." So, here is a book that does not reject religion but instead offers the philosophies
that religions are based on. And that is a revelation!
Here are the origins and explanations for Emotional Control, Love, Karma, Action &
Effect, Preordination, Incarnation Characteristic, Protection, Time, Guidance, Learning,
Restoration and Free Will---the universal laws that can and will enhance your being.
In this reviewer's opinion, This Lifetime on Earth offers the reader the means to achieve
a more successful lifetime by learning and embracing the twelve universal laws. More, an
understanding of who we are and why we are here. Sandy Andrew has given us an
exemplary light to illuminate the path to betterment. Well written!

An overview of New Age thinking Mar 02, 2006
By Bodhipaksa This Lifetime on Earth offers readers the opportunity to examine who they are, why they are here on Earth, and how they can achieve success and fulfillment through what Sandy Andrew calls "Universal Learning."
This book emerges from Sandy's belief in and practice of New Age spirituality, and is an expression of his personal beliefs and views. In it, he offers a relatively systematic guide to New Age concepts, including the infinite spiritual dimensions of which the universe consists, the belief that all things consist of energy, and the existence of universal laws, such as karma.
Foremost in Sandy's belief system is the Law of Universal Learning, which is how life presents challenges and lessons for us to master so that we can develop spiritually and become, in the terminology of the book, "more like God."
Sandy Andrew, like most New Age thinkers, takes a very inclusive approach to spirituality, and urges tolerance towards other's beliefs: surely a much needed thing in these troubled times. He believes that we are all free to choose whatever religion we please, and that there are many paths to ultimate spiritual fulfillment. He does embrace the language and belief system of a creator God, but his God seems more to be a loving father than a fire and brimstone type, and, as mentioned, he includes eastern concepts such as the law of karma.
As well as giving an overview of the grand scheme of the universe, Sandy Andrew offers simple and practical advice for living well. His meditation instructions are brief, clear, and effective, and he gives sensible advice on setting and achieving goals. I thought that the section on goal-setting, while clear and systematic, would have benefited from some examples that were more spiritual than the rather worldly examples provided. However, no doubt the average reader would be able to extrapolate using the principles that Sandy outlines.
Sandy was, I believe, particularly insightful in identifying negative emotions as one of the biggest obstacles that human beings face in life. He particularly highlights fear, anger, and hatred as emotional blights that hinder our wellbeing. One doesn't have to look far to see examples of this, either in the world at large or in our own hearts. And yet too often we locate our problems outside of ourselves, and choose to blame others instead of looking at our own hearts. Sandy's encouragement to look within and to overcome such obstacles is most welcome.
No one book will meet everyone's tastes, and this of course will be no exception. I imagine that many people who are committed to a particular traditional spiritual path such as Christianity or Buddhism (as I myself am) will find difficulty with Sandy's tendency to combine aspects of different religions, but for those attracted to New Age beliefs I suspect Sandy's writing will give a relatively systematic and thorough overview that particular world view.
I admire Sandy's courage for having had the perseverance to realize his life goals, and in having put his beliefs out there for the world to see. His book is clearly intended to help others, and that in itself is a precious act of great kindness. I wish Sandy well, and hope that he continues to share the fruits of his own particular path of universal learning.

Understanding Your Purpose Feb 04, 2006

Sandy Andrew takes the teaching of Universal Learning and breaks it do to digestible lessons that can either be digested as parts or as a whole. Andrew has grouped these lessons together by Spirit- who you are; Lifetime - why you are here; and the final chapter that puts that understanding together with the spiritual guidance from the universe that you receive but more often than not have a tendency to ignore, in order for you to begin living the way you were meant to.
Most other books that I have read on this topic tend to only talk about the life energy between all living things or about the spiritual guidance of God. This has been the only book, thus so far, that I have read that emphasizes the importance of both. You see so much being said about adhering to a balance in life yet it seems so difficult at times to accept that there must also be a spiritual balance between how much you put into the hands of a higher being and how much you take into your own hands. I think Andrew says it best when he tells us to "not blame God for earthly catastrophic events....you are currently residing on a living, breathing planet, not a perfect sanctuary." He goes on to point out that "God does not directly control events that occur on this planet; human beings do." To me this book is a bridge between the different spiritual views of the world because it speaks on the basic understanding that we each cause and have an effect on the world in which we live. I think at one point of another we have a tendency to forget that lesson. Andrew's book, to me, is a gentle reminder that comes straight to the point without some preconceived level of judgment. That's something I think we all can use at some point or another in our lives. In the world we live in the more we try or feel we need to do; the more important it is to be reminded that we are part of a bigger picture not the whole picture. Andrew's book is small and non-intimidating enough that you can pick it up when you need to regroup, go to the point that you need the most, and be able to walk away with a level of perspective of the overall picture of the universe.
