THREE PAWS: THE STORY OF MARLEY
Unlike the OTHER Marley, this little dog didn't have happy beginnings. He was abused, abandoned and then lived on the streets for months barely able to run with his poorly healed broken leg which he sadly had to lose. He was a mass of matted fur and bones. It was a miracle he survived on his own as long as he did, but Marley is the story of what is possible in a short year thanks to the love and determination of an 8 year old girl and her family.
The photographs are not the slick perfectly posed pictures one usually finds in this type of book. Yet their grittiness makes them all the more heartwarming because they are REAL. This is his story as told by his 9 year who loves him. (The author also happens to be the youngest volunteer with Bay Area Poodle Rescue.)
Marley may be a small dog but he has a HUGE heart and lets his family know how much he appreciates them every single day. Even with all he went through, he is still a happy, friendly little dog who doesn't seem to know he is physically challenged. (I had the honor of "meeting" Marley earlier this year.)
This story is simple and heartwarming. The pictures will appeal to dog lovers of all ages. Keeping in mind that this REALLY was written by a 9 year old, Three Paws: the Story of Marley, is the PERFECT book to start teaching a child the concept of kindness to animals and perhaps volunteering for a rescue organization if that is something you and yours believe in. (It's also a perfect addition to a vet's waiting room.)

I just read Three Paws and am totally enthralled with it. What a sweet addition to the classic story of the healing power of love. Marley is adorable and Isablea's perfect love for this imperfect being is so very touching.
The photos are great and I never tire of looking at them. Were my son still a child, I'm sure this is a story we'd read over and over again.

I can't even describe in words, just how amazingly sweet and pure this book is.. I have never met any other 9 year old that truly does hope to make a difference in the world!!! I HIGHLY recommend this book to people of every age, it is a real positive message that where there is LOVE theres a WAY!!!

This is a sweet and beautiful story of a little girl's love for her dog, Marley. Marley was a rescue dog who had many challenges to face, but with the love and good care of his owners, he made it through. My daughters and I cried when we read it because it was so sweet. This book will be an inspiration for anyone who is thinking of rescuing a dog.

Isabella is a fantastic author and the pictures are amazing! What a great book to sit and read with your child to encourage an early concern for our pets and homeless animals.
