4Good Advice for Shaky Times in Timeshare  Sep 10, 2009
"Timeshare Owners: Don't Get Scammed" is a timely offering during this present economic collapse while some timeshare owners seek to sell their weeks. The waters for selling timeshare are infested with con artists and scammers looking to pick off desperate sellers or frustrated owners who are having difficulty coping with these tough economic times. This book will not take them off the hook, but it should help to prevent an earnest seller from being hooked by a scammer.

Countless examples of timeshare scams are offered and explained. Some seem quite obvious -- such as someone telling you that you can get $15,000 for a week you've paid $10,000 for if only you will pay them an up front fee to help sell the week -- Or someone sending you a check for your week and saying that you need only pay the taxes /fees ( their check will bounce and they've got your own check made out to them ). Yes, it sounds obvious, but people do indeed fall for these and other timeshare deceptions. It's human nature and this book serves to remind us of that.

This book will not prevent the scams, but it does advise and educate timeshare owners who might otherwise be too desperate or too hopeful to realize that if it sounds too good to be true, it isn't true. In addition to it's common sense approach, the book also lays out basic timeshare guidelines for owners who are are frustrated and confused about the usage choices versus sales options that they have during these downwards economic times. Any timeshare owner who is selling or pondering selling their timeshare week might find this book useful in helping to reassure them. Likewise owners looking for advice about renting and other strategies might find a few useful hints.

The book is less than 100 pages in length, but it's an easy read and comes with a glossary and other timeshare advice which might reassure and educate timeshare owners who feel a bit shaky about their investment in timeshare at the present. I definitely recommend this book as light reading for any timeshare owners.
