Best Understanding of Emotions - Pain - Peace Aug 26, 2010
By John R. Connolly Emotions are not bad. What we do with them can be. With Dr. Gardner's work here, we can gain clarity on how to think about what our are feelings are and, most importantly, solve the pain that often arises from those emotions. I personally use this information for my own reflections and now I understand how Peace can grow in places that only pain came from.
This book starts us on a path of peace internally. I think this helps as we then turn around and try to live in peace with others.
It's not rocket science and that is the best part about it all. No one needs a degree to apply the principles. We just need to have a bit of understanding concerning the reality of how emotions work and how they can be used for our benefit rather than against us. This work gives us a better view to that understanding.
The surprising thing about it all was that there only a handful of emotions we deal with and not thousands of different ones. When emotions impact us, we can be overwhelmed and think that there is just a ton of emotional types working against us. The fact that there is a limited defined set helps to make this feel more manageable and in fact it is.
I look forward to more from Dr. Gardner.
