Treachery In Turtle Bay (Anna and Hugh Masterson Mysteries)

A story of intrigue, technology laced sleuthing and murder based on the corruption plagued United Nations Oil For Food Program. One that takes Hugh Masterson a consultant to the UN and his wife Anna from the highest levels of the United Nations to the highest levels of the United States Government. The Independent Inquiry Committee into The United Nations Oil for Food Programme run by former US Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volker, summarized the cash flow of that corruption ridden activity, "Under the Programme, the Government of Iraq sold $64.2 billion of oil to 248 companies. In turn, 3,614 companies sold $34.5 billion of humanitarian goods to Iraq". The difference between income from oil sales and outgo for humanitarian goods was $29.7 Billion. What happened to that $29,700,000,000? June 5, 2006, a man plummets from the window of his twentieth story apartment. His body is splattered over the walkways and bushes of a small park on East 45th Street in New York City. ...and so it begins!

5Fact or Fiction  Sep 01, 2009
By C. Roche
A satyrical thriller novel that blurs the line between fact and fiction. Bodell captures your attention with intriguing tidbits of history and technology while weaving together a tale of enormous greed and real life parallels. A must read for anyone interested in the complex worlds of worldwide politics and technology.

5Fantastic Book!  Jul 29, 2009
By Mary Murphy
This was a very fast and enjoyable read! I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't put the book down! It had all the elements of a great mystery like suspense, action, the element of surprise and an added bonus of humor that on certain pages made me laugh out loud!I look forward to the sequel and more from Bodell.

5Fantastic Thriller  Jan 03, 2011
By Annemarie B. Demarco
This book is a fantastic thriller that follows the story of Hugh Masterson, a UN consultant and his smart wife Anna, as they solve a murder mystery. What I liked best about the story is the immediacy of Hugh's voice, the authenticity of the characters and the engaging story line. Hugh is wholly believable as a technical consultant as he tells a detailed story of techno-sleuthing in New York City. As the plot thickens, "Treachery on Turtle Bay' remains highly accessible to the reader and portrays the life and challenges of a consultant with insight, humor and understanding adding the unusual twist of murder. Anna and Hugh's relationship is touching, they are a real team as they go about uncovering facts and developing plans. I didn't want the book to end, because I felt so attached to the characters. Fortunately for me, Book 2 is available for download.

5Page turner  Aug 17, 2009
By Maureen L. Maguire
I wanted to read something different from my usual mysteries and this really caught my eye. It is easy reading but hard to put down. I think I found a new author to follow, or should I say new consultants. Anna and Hugh make a good team.

5Very Exciting Read  Jul 28, 2009
By Danielle R.
What a fantastic and exciting read! I am not a big reader of techno-fiction, but this guy really made it easy to understand and follow and I did not want to put the book down! It was a great summer read and as I understand it, the sequel will be out next spring. I really hope it is as good as this one and makes another great summer read.
