New Meaning To "You Must Be Born Again" Jun 21, 2009 So many people nowadays, whether church-goers or not, believe that a Minister has an easy job: Open the Bible, read some scripture, and give their opinions on the verses. Simple, right?
But as I read through this reprinted book brought to us by Carl "Tuchy" Palmieri, I found the truth to be much more harsh than I ever realized. Each of these twelve Ministers struggled to be more Christ-like, to lead their churches in the right direction, and many even had crises of faith.
In the end, I find that not only do us normal church-goers have to keep renewing our faith, but even moreso does our Ministers and others held in high regard within our churches have to do so as well.
I thank Tuchy and Healing-Habits.com for reprinting this wonderful collection of personal stories, and I recommend this to anyone who is considering the Pastoral field. You'll be glad you have these case studies to help guide you and to use to help refill your dwindling faith as needed.
Living in the Light Jun 12, 2009 "Twice Born Ministers" reflects on the spiritual obstacles and convictions of ministers. The book shows that choosing the ministry as a career is to make a whole hearted commitment to Christ's highest standards and not a career for the faint hearted. It is an eye opener book with inspiring stories for those who are thinking of going this direction and for those already in the ministry. Ministers are put to the test in their multi tasking roles. First and foremost ministers need to be honest to them selves as the first step in the knowledge of God. Are ministers able to successfully transmit a living experience of Christ to others, to serve others? Read this book, publisher Tuchy Palmieri.
Spiratual Jun 12, 2009 Twice Born Ministers, republished by Tuchy Palmieri with funding from Healing-habits.com, is a real look at the struggles faced by spiritual leaders. Like many other people, there are times when these leaders face difficult decisions and situations. This group of stories follow the individual journeys to finding or rediscovering a relationship with God.
Each chapter of the book is an interesting and unique story. The structure of the book makes it easy to read in several sittings without concern of forgetting the storyline. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels their faith is fading.
Interesting for Those Interested in Ministry Jun 12, 2009 "Twice Born Ministers" is a collection of stories of twelve ministers who struggled to find their way to serve Christ and their congregations more authentically and deeply. Although the stories are from the early twentieth century, they still resonate today for anyone who is involved in pastoral care or ministry work. (Originally published in 1929, "Twice Born Ministers" has been republished by Carl Tuchy Palmieri and Healing-habits.com.)
How do the leaders of a church lead the congregations when they are struggling with their own spiritual needs? There are some useful answers in this book. It is solely Christian and Protestant in its perspective, but there is useful information here for anyone who is involved any sort of spiritual leadership.
Inspiring Minister Stories Jun 11, 2009 "Twice Born Ministes: We Are All Ministers" by Samuel M Shoemaker and republished by Carl Tuch Palmieri with funding by Healing-Habits.com is still today relevant just as it was when it was published in 1929. It is comprised of short stories of ministers, who just as laymen sometimes do, have the need to find their way in tough economic times. They sometimes have to re-evaluate their own belief systems while helping themselves as well as others.
Each story is interesting, different in it's own way and easy to read. If you are in need of inspiration the stories are worth the read. It is not a book you need to read all at once since it is not one continual story. Although I enjoyed it, I put it down after awhile as it did not keep my interest but picked it up again when I was ready to continue. Good book but not great.
