Mostly for Internal Certification Programs Jan 31, 2011
By John W
"amateur indologist and philologist"
For anyone not already experienced in the certification business, this book can prove quite useful. It is primarily directed at firms considering implementing internal certification programs. This book is NOT for candidates seeking certrification, neither would it be very useful for firms whose main line of business is certification. The second half of the book consists of PowerPoint slides and checklists that rehash material already presented in the first half of the book. One seventh of the book's page volume consists of a verbatim reprint of a law concerning testing which is available in the public domain. The author's experience in the field is quite rich and she could have written a much more useful book and it's a shame she didn't. I suspect that her motivation for writing this book the way she did is her extensive background in adult education. I would have preferred something more like a college text than something written in the style of a workbook. I want to make it very clear, though, that this is a very good book for firms seeking to implement internal certification programs and I do strongly recommend that they buy this book.
Worth Every Penny Feb 08, 2012
By Bill M Unlocking the Power of Certification: How to Develop Effective Certification Programs
Being a developer in a large behavioral health organization, certification always is an issue. Who certified? What does that mean? and so on. With this book I have been able to set up appropriate certifications with higher standards than most and make it beneficial for all who become certified and the certificate is recognized by other institutes. Thanks for the help.
Certification Unlocked Nov 30, 2011
By steve morgan I am tasked at creating a certification program for a technical work group. While I understand the technical aspects and the industry hierarchy fairly well, I had no knowledge of how to begin or execute a certification program. Ms Flynn's book is a great blueprint to understanding all the little steps and potential pitfalls for doing so. I find it informative, a relative easy read, and full of great practical advice. The author is very approachable and offered me great ideas on how to structure my work. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking help on creating a certification program - especially those that know for subject, but not the certification process.
From zero to credible Program Manager Oct 16, 2011
By Twin This book delivers all that it promises, detailing every step and consideration in order to realise a complete and robust certification program. It is well written and well-paced and includes an entire range of job aids (templates, forms, check lists etc.) all of which enabled me to get up to speed in the shortest time possible. I thoroughly recommend this book.
Ramp up quickly and get results developing a Certification program Jul 18, 2011
By Richard C. Lewis I am preparing a Certification program for a new and expanding technical field, needing to get ramped up quickly and show some results. This book has the content and direction to help get you started quickly and give you an overview of the topics you'll be most interested in addressing right up front. The Job Aids are printed in the book, but you can get them from the author for an additional fee. This book won't do the work for you, but it will certainly guide you in the right direction.
