It adopts a logical approach, beginning with the background to the present status of UMTS radio network technology, before devoting equal coverage to protocols and signal flows. The book includes detailed coverage from both a theoretical and practical perspective on UTRAN Signaling And Protocols aspects of UMTS, and a number of other new UMTS techniques to help operators get the most out of their networks. • Provides detailed end-to-end signal flows within the UTRAN. • Incorporates the hands-on experiences of UTRAN Signaling And Protocols. UTRAN Signaling And Protocols, is a one-stop reference to help UTRAN engineers effectively reduce the time and costs involved in UMTS deployment, parameter optimization and operations. The book contains seven cohesive and well-organized chapters which cover numerous sub topics, including:Radio channel structures, radio channel models, parameters, signal flows and UTRAN/UMTS protocols. In addition the book covers: • Techniques for capacity and coverage enhancements • Complete treatment of power control, handoffs and radio resource practical management processes and parameters • Detailed coverage of UTRAN protocol enhancement for operation over wireless links, particularly UMTS • Comprehensive discussion and presentation of practical techniques for radio performance analysis, and troubleshooting Engineers working on other air interfaces and next generation technologies will find many of the techniques introduced helpful in operating future wireless networks as well. Students and professionals new to the wireless field will also find this book to be a good foundation in network UMTS Signaling , performance analysis, optimization and UMTS operations.

The author of this book supposed to have a PhD.But most of the material are directly copied from other books that cannot be expected from an author having a PhD.
Generelly in a text book a given sentence is related to the previous sentence and the next. But in this book one sentence copied from one book and the next sentence is copied from anthor book and the meanings are ambiguous. This indicates that not only paragraphs are copied but also sentences from different books.
I thought this book is good one but not as expected.
