V2G is the next big trend Apr 08, 2011
By James D. Stack
"solarstacks"
Vehicle to GRID is the next big trend. I have a Solar GRID tied and can make extra which helps my local utiltiy and they need lots of help. Most utilties are over 50% COAL powered, about 20% Nuclear and even some hydro. They can't turn them down at night when use is low or even ramp them down. So they dump mega watts at night, yet can hardly keep up during peak hours.
This books tells how plugin vehicles can use that off peak energy instead of having it dumped, then they can sell back and make energy during the peak day time hours. They can also just be plugged in and provide REGULATION for the GRID. You can get paided just to be plugged in.
Advanced Vehicles like the ACPropulsion electrics with 150-300 mile ranges already can do this V2G connection. They could even provide powwer backup for your home or small company. It's here and ready now.
I just got a new 2011 Nissan LEAF. I asked when Nissan will have V2G. They are working on it . What a great feature to have on any plugin vehicle.
The author really know electrics and all about the GRID. This is a must read book so you can be on the leading edge.
Most Comprehensive V2G Text Jul 08, 2009
By Kyle Shepard Lenn's book is BY FAR the most comprehensive text on the subject. His ability to include all of the calculations needed to analyze V2G from a risk, technical and economic objective makes this book a must have for anyone working in the field.
