Not worth reading Apr 02, 2008 Had I known the book was going to be as trashy as it was, I never would have purchased it- shame on me. Any book that cites Wikipedia as its source for footnotes leaves a lot to be desired. I was looking for real sources for a paper, not a source on the occult and child porn. The only reason it has a star is because the review can't be published without one...

Another must-read book by Maurie! Mar 14, 2007 Interesting account of U-boat landing on California shore after WWII. Handy synopsis of events leading up to current world. The woman has gravitas. Maurie is strong and pure. I believe Maurie's books will become classics.

Helpful for those already knowledgeable Mar 04, 2007 Mauri's book was a difficult one to review. While Vatican Ratline contains a great deal of information and insights into ritual abuse and trauma based mind control, this material would probably be more recommended for readers who are already aware of these types of abuses. Since much of this book details extreme trauma and cruelty, it's often a direct challenge to our worldview and only natural to not want to believe these things.
Mauri's writing style and sense of humor helps bring an intelligent perspective and understanding to a very difficult and often overwhelming subject. While it's difficult to read about Mauri's experiences, knowing she survived allows the reader connect to a deeper level of her humanity. While I don't agree with all the conclusions, Vatican Ratline may provide additional insights and understanding to those who willing to accept the realities of these abuses.
While it often goes unsaid, I admire the courage and perseverance of any individual willing to tell their story. Mauri is willing to share some of her most difficult experiences for the benefit of survivors and their allies. While much of the material contained within this book speaks of unhuman cruelty, Mauri's story helps us to connect with our humanity in ways that only someone who has endured great suffering may understand.
