The Real Deal in Mohave County Mar 13, 2006
By J. Bodenhamer Being a resident of Mohave and having had more than one experience with the politics of this "wild west" county, I am sure that Patti's experiences are the "real deal". She is an extremely courageous woman to take on these people. The political regime in this county desperately needs to be cleaned up. In my opinion she was lucky to have escaped with her life. I consider myself courageous, but I would probably have cut and run under her circumstances, and with him knowing she was a single woman living alone. It's pretty desolate out here and to have lived alone with this "Toup" (not his real name) running wild and crazy was indeed very dangerous, especially when the powers that "be" protected him because of his family name, until Patti made it so painfully clear that finally a judge couldn't deny her rights as a landowner and citizen. I worry for Patti when Toup gets out of jail.

Victim Condemned Mar 15, 2006
By Lawrence R. Lewis The book has alot of truth that is seen in small town America. The fact that this lady was unjustly put through the wringer is how the system seems to let people down. It shows in the book many occassions where you can give to the system and serve it and how it will repay your hard works. Everyone should read this book and stand and take notice of our elected officials and city politics. Whats the saying? LET FREEDOM RING? Who does the ringing? Great book!

Rural places not always what they're cracked up to be Mar 22, 2006
By Rifleman Many Americans dream of moving to rural locations, but this book shows why they need to investigate thoroughly before they pick up and relocate. Otherwise they may be greeted by, and fall prey to, crooked and incompetent local politicians, thieving locals, a poor and drug dependent workforce, the lack of services, and other hardships probably not anticipated. The author shows rare persistence and staying power in dealing with and overcoming her antagonists. Most of us would have cleared out long before victory was achieved, worse for the wear and a lot lighter in the pocketbook.

Small Town Corruption Revealed Nov 05, 2006
By S. Fox
"beady-eyed fox"
Interesting book for those who live in small towns. One woman's attempts to live in peace are foiled again and again by county officials and police, all of whom have true identities concealed with nicknames. Photos of the kinds of problems she faced in buying a lot in a highly touted subdivision and building on it when the developer is a "good old boy" and doesn't follow up on promises of paved roads, water, utilities-- This kind of thing can happen anywhere- anywhere people are scheming and lying and thinking only of themselves. Not a pretty picture, but with government the way it is - what can you expect? The rich get rich at the expense of the little guy. I recommend this book if you're not prone to getting depressed easily...

Victim Condemned Sep 02, 2006
By A Metz Having just finished reading this highly recommended book by a fellow of Mohave County, I applaud Ms. Lewis for having the courage to expose and publish her experience with the local county & city government. After reading her book I learned that she had run for board of supervisors in 2000. Had I lived here then, I would have voted for her as a step in the right direction to get rid of "the good ole boys". This is a must read for anyone contemplating a move to this fast-growing area where the long drought is having critical impact on our water supply. The towns in this county may become modern-day ghost towns in the very near future if there isn't a change of elected officials soon that will protect our resources from the megadevelopers that are only interested in making a fast buck and the county more than willing to rubberstamp them approvals because of the property tax dollars they may bring!!!! When did elected officials stop serving the people who elected them?
Thank God for people like Patti who take the time to educate others and took on the good ole boys and WON!
