Thought-provoking - are you really following God? Mar 07, 2011
By Andi U The author demonstrates why we need to give God absolute control over each aspect of our lives in order to achieve peace, because we really can't hide anything from God - we only fool ourselves that we can. Then he goes on to explain what it means for God to be in control and how to go about making that happen. "When Man Listens" helps you take a look at the way you spend your time and your money, how you treat family, friends, co-workers, even your boss, and to discern if God is in charge of those areas of your life or if you have kept parts of those to yourself, to do as you choose instead. Very thought provoking for those of us who wear the name Christian.
Insightful and inspiring book Feb 01, 2011
By Angel Although I was raised Catholic and now consider myself more spiritual than religious I found "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" by Cecil Rose a very insightful and inspiring book. The concepts put forth are those also taught in the 12 step programs of today. Listen to your higher power and you will find the help you need to overcome your addiction whether it is to alcohol, drugs, food, etc. I know this works as it was successful for me in OA and my ex-husband in AA. The teachings in "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" are a way of life for many, myself included, as I allow myself to listen to the inner spirit that is guided from the higher power I believe in. Carl Tuchy Palmieri gave us a wonderful reprint of this timeless book. You do not have to be of any specific faith or religion to gain a lot from reading it.
Does Gid have a plan? Feb 01, 2011
By Theresa Hurley Written more than seventy years ago "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" by Cecil Rose is a timeless book. Does God have a plan for everyone as the author suggests? If you believe in God, or a higher power, you believe that is so. But how do you know what it is? According to Mr. Rose, simply let yourself listen and you will hear the word of God and the plan will happen. Might not sound possible but ask any of the thousands (if not millions) of people that have experienced it first-hand. They can tell you, it works. Reprinted by Carl Tuchy Palmieri, "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" is an easy book to read that I recommend to everyone regardless lf your faith.
a book for everyone regardless of their faith Feb 01, 2011
By Benj Thank you Carl Tuchy Palmieri for bringing us a reprint of this wonderful book "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" by Cecil Rose. As relevant and timely today as it was when it was first published in 1939, the book gives inspiration and hope to everyone. Although it is based on the New Testament it is not necessary to be of any special faith to believe in God (or whatever your higher power may be). Whether you pray, meditate or simply sit quietly and look at the sky, listen to what you hear within. If you have ever been in a 12- step program you will recognize the fundamental principles in this book. If you want change in your life, "When Man Listens: Everyone Can Listen to God" will help you learn how to achieve it.
shut up and listens Jan 22, 2011
By bobi Everytime I pray it goes something like this: god give me this, God can you please help me with this...etc etc. Its loud on my end and I always feel God may not even be on the other end. The truth is I'm too busy talking to hear him. Tuchy knows this is a common mistake we humans make and has created the book: When Man Listens: Everyone can listen to God to teach us how to listen and hear what God has to say. There is a plan for you, its laid out, and if you listen he will tell you what it is. I almost felt like reading this was prayer. Great book.
