This is a true story of a child who lived on a farm and later moved to a small village in Michigan . As a child, Barbara was neglected and abused. She attended school for the first time at the age of eight years old.. When she failed the fifth grade, she refused to open any school books. She was kicked out of school in the ninth grade . She married at the age of seventeen and was the mother of four children at the age of twenty-four . They moved to California where she became a successful real estate broker . She got a divorce after being in an abusive marriage for fifteen years. Soon after she remairred. When her new husband brought his girlfriend home, she trashed her career, family and ran away. She was financially raped after having commingled her assets . She drank to relieve all her anger, hate and pain. Alcohol quit working, she would drink and couldn't get drunk. She had to either get help or die . Out of desperation she called Alcoholic's Anonymous. She was given a second life and a new way of living sober . She married five times before she learned to have a relationship with herself . She lived in Colorado Springs for ten years where she was able to heal . She has over twenty-three years of continuous sobriety, "One day at a time ." She has a healthy beautiful relationship with her four adult children and ten grand-children . She is retired and living in Southern California near her family and the Pacific Ocean . Barbara has learned to "Walk the Walk" with help from her Higher Power. She has been given new eyes, new ears and a new heart. |
