5This novel opens up a whole new world  Nov 13, 2009
By Sonya Unrein
Jennifer Dinn Korman's new novel successfully bridges the world as it's known to Americans and the one that exists in the realm of the mysterious Aboriginal culture. Just as protagonist Dr. Donna must release her expectations and beliefs in order to move forward, so must the reader be open to explore new modes of thinking. Jimmy Jackboy's character is spirited and playful, and his enthusiasm for making the most of every day is infectious. This is a story rich in detail, well worth a reader's time.

5Engaging Story  Nov 10, 2009
By Manuel
Korman has written a fabulous book. She paints a sensual picture of contemporary life in the middle of Australian nowhere, along with an interesting description of Aboriginal spirituality that is lacking in typical American culture. I loved the characters. You should read it.

4Who is Jimmy Jackboy?  Jan 11, 2012
By Sherry richardson
Honestly , that was the question in my mind when I discovered this book. Through the pages of the story I learned not only who he was, but what he was and from where he came. The poignant beginning drew me quickly into Donna's life and thus the lives of the many people who touched her life. It's a book like none other I have read. I knew nothing of life in outback Australia and even less about the people and their customs. I discovered new birds, plants, and animals. The one thing I should have done is read the glossary BEFORE I began reading!
It's a wonderful story,beginning to end. I hope there is a sequel!

5Awesome Book Club Read  Feb 20, 2010
By Candice Makowski
I was hooked by the first paragraph. Beautifully described characters and scenes that it was like a movie playing in my head. I haven't enjoyed a tale of boy to manhood since "The Power of One" and this possibly surpassed it because of Dr. Donna's journey and discovery of her womanhood. Throughout the entire read, I found myself laughing, crying and even itching with crawling skin (spider passage.) We had a wonderful time discussing this book during a recent book club - and we all had finished because it was difficult to put down. Looking forward to Jennifer's next masterpiece!!
