War, Religion and Taxation: An Anthropological Perspective on Sustainable Societies

An analysis of what is a sustainable society using cross cultural data and culture history of the development and decline of complex societies. Includes a historical survey of the last 2 million years of human environmental adaptation and the affects human society has had on changes in other life forms, the types of human society and the degree of affects and how modern economic systems have influenced resource development and extraction as well as human behavior. In general sees humans as a domesticated species, compares complexity in humans to that of other animals with complex societies, e.g. bees, ants, etc. and how these use other species for energy and resources.
