By Nikki J Williamson A friend from R.I.M recommended this book. I'm so glad she did (KR Bankston). Its powerful and a true page turner. It was suspense and exciting. The author gave life to the characters. I could see them as I read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Impressive Aug 20, 2010

Keith Williams' "Water Flows Under Doors" is a strong and impressive debut. But as with many debuts, it has its fair share of kinks (editing issues), though not enough to deter readers. Descriptive, interesting and easy to follow, Williams tells the story of a young man, Tyler. Tyler is an average guy, growing up in New York and raised by his mother. His absentee father made a few guest appearances over the years in his and his brother's lives. Just off the heels of a breakup with his girlfriend and not on emotional stable footing, Tyler finds himself with feelings for a young lady, Tracy, in his building; a lady that belongs to a local, ruthless dealer. Throwing caution to the wind and fueled off emotions, Tyler and Tracy open Pandora's Box...
Keith Williams takes readers on a ride. I won't say a wild ride, but it was a ride nonetheless and a worthy ride. He delivers a well-crafted story. This read is a strong four (I liked it) as it falls just a little shy of what I would consider a five (I loved it). I look forward to reading more from Williams and I can see this easily being the start of a promising literary career. Don't sleep on Keith!

Tormented Jul 25, 2010

Deborah just broke up with her boyfriend Tyler who is devastated. Now Tyler finds out she's with "pretty boy" Patrick. The thought of them together enrages Tyler and he loses control. Tyler vows never to become like his father but now he fears that he may be just like him! Deborah is NOT the girl Tyler would like her to be, she is selfish and is guilty of betrayal but yet feels no guilt.
Sixteen year old unhappy Tracy lives in the apartment above Tyler's with her infant daughter and her mother. Tracy is the baby momma of 29yr old Remy, a notorious drug dealer who is disrespectful, highly intuitive, suspicious and dangerous. He is self destructing and doesn't even know it...or does he?
Tracy and Tyler are two people who aren't happy in their circumstances but neither knows what to do about it. Tracy's endearing stance pulls Tyler in, and they form a bond which intensifies as they each try to look deep inside themselves to find an answer.
Meanwhile a secret that has been kept for years comes to light rocking one of these characters to the core! Who will be caught in this revelation crossfire?
It's been a while since I read a story where the author is skillful enough to pen an urban drama that brings deep soul searching young characters to the forefront, a plot that is fueled with raw emotion and torment, all within an environment we can relate to. I also liked the analogies used here.
This is one of those books where I looked at the cover and the title and thought...okay. Then I read the story and said "wow!"
This is a stellar debut from newcomer Keith Williams! A recommended read!
