A True History of Las Vegas Sports Gambling Jul 04, 2011
By Fractured Jaw Author Scott Schettler may not be a true wordsmith, but he doesn't have to be with this book. We Were Wiseguys... tells the true history of the Las Vegas Sports Gambling scene as only someone who experienced it first hand can. It records the glory days of the sports book industry prior to the invasion of the corporate suits that now rule the Strip. Schettler ran America's premiere sportsbook, the Stardust Race & Sports Book, in the 1980s when he and his cronies set the line everyone used - from other Las Vegas Sports Book to the underground, illegal bookies spread out across the nation. Filled with a cast of true characters and anecdotes, this book takes the reader to another time and place - a better time and place - when "wiseguys" ran Vegas and ran it right.
