5Great Book for Children!  Dec 29, 2003

This book was cleverly written and illustrated; children and adults can both benefit from the lessons presented. Basic chess rules are covered, as well as a fair amount of strategy. I strongly recommend it, especially as a gift.

4A quick and easy introduction  Jan 19, 2006

If you are looking for a chess book that that isn't too involved and you want short and simple this is it! I recommend it for any kid who just wants to learn the very basics (otherwise consider "Chess for Juniors" for older kids or more material on strategy).
I also like "You Can Play Chess" for kids in Kindergarten or First Grade who want lots of pictures and the rules.
Weapons and Tactics is basic, but what kids like.
