Were Wolves: The Mix Tape

Just when they were sure that the strangest thing that could happen in the Bay Area was a vampire war, Omari and Jamilah find themselves faced with a new threat: a werewolf, in the form of their recently bit friend Dragonbrush. As the full moon fatefully approaches, the siblings wonder what will happen to their Filipino friend when he fully transforms, and more importantly what will happen to them? Brace yourself; you're going back to Oakland, CA, a place filled with bullies, gay hipsters, illegal parties, and drug dealing DJ's, escaped convicts, vampires and now, werewolves.

5Original and even better than the first one!  Feb 08, 2010

This book was great! The follow up to Night Biters: A Tale of Urban Horror it continues with the original characters, Omari, Jamilah and friends, and introduces Dragonbrush in more depth. He's now become a warewolf and not only has to deal with his issues of being half dog, but in the tradition of Harper's books, still has to deal with real everyday life in Oakland. The book is part scary, part adventure part OMG did that really just happen?!? What I love about this series is that the author introduces Oakland as the multicultural hub that it is, and the first graffiti writing Filipino warewolf in print is no exception. He also has a real grasp of supernatural folklore in a way that updates the stories and makes them interesting and relevant for the times. I HIGHLY recommend this book, it's not just for teens!

This book caught me off guard. It was so much scarier and hair raising in a subtle way. Putting an interesting twist on the life of a werewolf. This book had a lot to do with the trials and tribulations of friendship and family once again. He lured me in by putting the politics on how the Werewolves operate. With the Epilogue setting the stage for an epic battle....I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
