What Ever Happened to Great Singing?: It's Time For: A Real Change! Real Answers! Real Technique! Real Truth!

The world is stuck in 'Idol Worship'. What would have been totally unacceptable vocal performance 30 years ago is norm today. The real voices are lost under a heap of institutionalized wrong technique which is being taught and perpetrated. Voice teachers and Vocal Coaches. Speech pathologists, Ear Nose and Throat Specialists are harming our instruments. The teaching techniques out there are destroying voices after a short bloom – the combination of jet age mentality, bad management and vocal ignorance rob the world of the Vocal Greatness. Where are the great voices of today? What happened to singers being household words based upon their voices rather than their scandal sheets? Who is demanding that Truth be told and great singing be once again instituted – I am! -After almost 30 years of fixing vocal ‘garbage’, left behind by teachers from all over the world, I have the right to stand up and refuse for this to go on any longer. Maria Callas, the greatest soprano in the history of opera, finished her career at 40. No one could help her put back the glory of her instrument - does that tell you something? She had lots of money and ‘friends’ when she was on top, when she lost her voice, she was alone. Caruso, the greatest Tenor of all time had vocal secrets which were not written in any of his personal accounts or published biographies that I encountered. -I found truth and the vindication of my own work in an obscure article written in a Metropolitan Opera Magazine in 1975, accompanying a Caruso Record Collection. I have been teaching this secret without knowing it for many years, now I share it with the world! This book is as much an expose’ of correspondence between me and institutions as it is a testimonials by people who have saved their voices by using this teaching. I am angry at the destruction perpetrated by people who are looking for a “buck” instead of understanding what is really going on. I am fed up at watching voices being ‘struck out’ instead of being cultivated, I challenge the system. Bring me a voice that you cannot fix. I will tell you why you can’t fix it and ‘reconstruct’ it myself!!! The Voice and I are in pursuit of setting the record straight and at the risk of opening a can of worms, I am intent on creating a new standard of Truth and Excellence in teaching and of course singing. What I teach, how I teach, where this teaching comes from and what it ultimately achieves, is based upon a deep level of knowledge which sources in time of Second Temple. I bare the truth to the technical secrets of the voices and which for some inexplicable reason have been imparted onto me. I am here to share that which works at any age or stage of vocal deterioration and results in a healthy instrument producing extraordinary sound… I wrote this book to break down the myths and return to a sensible approach which makes the system work for you instead of destroy you. Why has no one ‘what matters’ listened in the past? Good question - perhaps the published correspondence will provide an answer. To me basic answer is : It is too easy and so natural .Ultimately it really does not make a great deal of money. Surgeries and Botox injections ( you read right) are much more profitable. One thing is for certain – the time has come to have this information reach the world. This is not only for singers, but parents whose children who are suffering from vocal stress at early ages and are sent to their speech pathologists in grammar school with little tangible results; tone deaf people who think they are, but really are not –– speech pathologists, ENT’s, vocal coaches and so called voice specialists who have degrees from the most prestigious universities and medical schools and can’t do anything else but operate… in short, anyone who uses his Voice needs this information and that includes us all. Here are concrete answers to complex questions which work with and for the body and not against it. The goal here is : To speak

5I Dare You to Discover Your Real Voice  Oct 05, 2009
By Andrea Duplechain
Miriam Arman is right in saying, "Do Not Buy This Book: Unless you seriously wish to change your life as a Singer. Unless you are ready to throw your old ideas and notions out of the window...and unless you have a teacher who supports you in this Journey". I can tell you from experience that taking up this book and its teachings will be the most enjoyable and exciting journey that you will ever take. It involves charting new ideas and throwing off the old ones. Just don't be surprised as you progress on this journey, that you discover a new voice. It will be a voice that resonates high in the cavities of your head. This is something that I have not been able to achieve with traditional voice training, and I have been singing for 20 years. Instead of developing a wobble as I have matured, a clearer and younger voice has emerged. It is unbelievable!! I feel that I am really just beginning to sing (and speak too, for that matter)!! I will never be able to go back to the old way (not that I desire to at all). You must read this book in chronological order without skipping around, and do as instructed. Ms. Arman carefully lays out the instructions step by step just as she does in her live classes. She also provides note pads, nice tidbits, and various illuminations and comments from her students. I recommend the credo from a former student on page 20. As you progress along, you might find this very useful. I have recently incorporated it in my practice. This book is a must read. I have purchased several books and videos on singing which left me feeling that something was missing. No teacher, book or video has been able to get to the heart of it and put it in plain English as Ms. Arman. I have found the answer first with Ms. Arman's book, "The Voice: A Spiritual Approach to Singing, Speaking and Communicating", and now with this current book, "Whatever Happened to Great Singing?" where she takes on and disputes the world of singing and even reveals the secrets of the greatest singer ever lived. Therefore, I strongly recommend this book to any singer; beginner or experienced, young or old. I dare you to discover your real voice.

Having read Miriam Arman's previous book, The Voice ~ A Spiritual Approach to Singing, Speaking and Communicating, I was looking forward to this next book with great anticipation, and can honestly say, this book does not disappoint!

What Ever Happened to Great Singing? is a must read for any one using their voice in the expression of singing...or speaking. This book is packed full of priceless knowledge that will guide the singer/speaker to new levels of excellence. Having sung professionally for 3 decades, and working with some of the highest-rated vocal coaches, I can say this book contains information not yet known to many singers or vocal instructors.

Miriam Arman brings to this book her significant knowledge and stellar reputation as one of the most sought-after masters of pedagogy and singing teachers of the past 30 years. Her commitment to the integrity of great singing and the authentic voice is matched only by her passion to deliver the fullness of those secrets to all those sincerely open to receiving the message.

If this book can only find its way into the hands of every single singer, speaker, and voice instructor, the singing and all levels of vocal expression on this planet will most definitely move to higher levels of excellence!

5True Bel Canto wisdom  Jul 22, 2010
By Cristina Andersson
Mme. Jaskierowicz has deep understanding and knowledge about how the voice works.

I totally agree with her that the "idols-era" has ruined people's voices. The way people try to get a quick voice-solution to serve the needs of getting rapidly famous can cause lifetime problems for the voice. And not to speak about the listeners!

I believe that the best musical experience comes when the natural "voice-technology" in the human system works in the it was meant to work enhanced with study and practise that aims to strengthen that technology.

This is the purpose with Mme. Jaskierowicz work - to train the natural technology to serve the needs of beautiful singing, the Bel Canto!

In her book "What ever happened to great singing" she explains in detail the parts of the technology, how they work and most importantly how to make them work together. I know that if you take just a quick look at her ideas they sound complicated - but you need to read diligently and actively, experimenting with the ideas. You need to work and practise in order to get the right spaces opened and the right muscles to work properly.

Mme. Jaskierowicz shares her wisdom generously. I recommend this book with all my heart and also to take time to watch her videos at Youtube and to read her blog.

5Perhaps the most important text on the vocal arts ever published.  Sep 11, 2009
By Kyle H. Hatanaka "Giacomo"
Yes, I am one of her personal students. No, this is not being written to get a discount on her lessons. Her integrity probably wouldn't even allow such a thing. This is simply written out an uncontrived interest to let the people know what their options are as students of voice, specifically: what they're missing out on.

First of all, let's all admit to one thing: the Western world, with it's so-called healing modalities, DOES NOT FIX ANYONE. Truly, literally, no one. Not addictions, not cancers, not colds, nothing. They simply do not know how we really work, as spiritual beings having human experiences, and since it's not profitable to know how to anyways, they don't care. Modern vocal instruction is intrinsically an extension of this ignorance, arranged completely by a series of scientific guesses that are advertised and assumed to be "miracles of the modern age," when, if you actually get on the streets and talk to their students, you find that some 99.9% of all their students didn't achieve the satisfacion they desired. The other .1% either combined that with vastly alternative means or had particularly beneficial upbringings (parents and community very seldom told them to "keep it down" and "use inside voices"). We, as a rapidly evolving and transforming global community, deserve far better than this. And this book marks the beginning of that, in very coherent and powerful ways.

"Whatever Happened to Great Singing?" represents, for me, not just a technique that puts into practice ancient technology within us, but it is indeed a paradigm shift. A paradigm shift that includes everyone, one that is highly, highly appropriate for the times we are now facing today. And these claims are not coming from scientific evidence or theories. This is coming from my personal and consistent work with it, not just in my daily practices, but also from when I go to Peru and the shamans speak of these same ideas, when I see how this work is asking me to surrendur to what I really give a damn about, and also in how great I feel after doing this.

Of course, none of this can really make any sense deeply without you experiencing it yourself. Hopefully, the length of this customer review can attest to at least something. However, if you're willing to go the more comfortable, and consequently, more self-destructive, path, then best of luck to you. You're going to need it. But I, for one and many, have searched long and hard and can finally say I found here a piece of what everyone is looking for in their lives. And godammit, we deserve more of this.
