What Is Soccer?

Inspired by the author's oldest daughter Sara, "What is Soccer?" is a true story about Sara and her first experience with the game of soccer. The book tells the story of Sara's reaction to her Dad's excitement while watching a televised soccer match and her resulting interest in the game. Her Dad is her coach as he helps her learn the basics of the game. Readers will enjoy hearing how Sara learned to dribble, pass, and shoot the soccer ball. Written by a former soccer player and coach, and illustrated by Sara and her little sister Olivia, the story shares a kids' view of soccer and conveys why soccer is a great game for kids. It is a great bedtime story or a good choice for beginning readers to read on their own. It is also a useful resource for kids who are just starting to play soccer or parents who have never played the game. Watch for additional books by the author that will take readers on the journey of Sara's first game and beyond!

5Great Book for Kids of All Ages!  Jan 31, 2010
By John Daiza
This is a very inspirational family book. It's not only a great "how to book" for "big kids" in learning the fundamentals of the game of soccer and teaching it to "small kids" (like a chef learning a new recipe and then sharing it with his students and customers alike); it's really a great "how to book" in guiding parents on how to effectively communicate with, and teach, youngsters a wide variety of subjects including the game of soccer. Parents with kids of all ages will truly appreciate the tremendous and invaluable lessons documented and illustrated in this book. It's a great "user's manual" and a "blue print" for not only the game of soccer, but also the game of life. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it to kids of all ages.

5Great Book for Aspiring Soccer Players  Feb 12, 2010
By Erin Kolecki "Book-Loving Boy Mom"
This is a wonderful children's book, about a young girl who is discovering soccer with dad. The story is very sweet and as a bonus it is filled with soccer fundamentals. If you have a child who is beginning to play and want to reinforce what s/he is learning from the coach, this would make a great read. My twin boys love the illustrations, which were done by the author's children. All in all, this is a great book!

5Perfect book for a youngster to practice reading...  Jan 16, 2010

Perfect book for a youngster to practice reading and maybe even gain an interest in soccer. I look forward to sequels!

Not only is the book well written but the illustrations are fabulous! All four of my children love to read the book. A family written book is inspiring for everyone. Great job Tabash family!

5A fun read for kids and parents, alike!  Jan 15, 2010
By Isabella's mom "Karin"
We bought this book for our six-year old daughter to teach her about the basics of soccer and I learned a bunch in the process. It provides a great overview of all the basics of the game, including everything from the uniform to field positions, making soccer seem a little less intimidating and a lot more fun. Our 2 year old twins love it too, especially the darling pictures, which were illustrated by the author's children.
