What I've Learned So Far...: Part I: Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets

For years the essays of award-winning humorist Mike Ball, published under the title "What I've Learned So Far..." have evoked laughter and tears in readers all over the world. Mike's sharp wit, blended with his gentle homespun style, has been compared to Mark Twain, Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry and even Ernie Pyle. One reader said, "Mike Ball can make me laugh and cry in 400 words." This is the first bound collection of Mike's work, featuring his Erma Bombeck Award-winning column "Just A Little Bike."

5In a world filled with bad news, bad behavior and bad books, Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets is like a breath of fresh air.  Jan 08, 2010
By R. Scott Lorenz "(Book Publicist)"
Humorist Mike Ball's refreshing new book, What I've Learned So Far... Part I: Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets, looks at our world from the perspective of an astonishingly witty and introspective writer. His wry observations, screwball sense of humor, and light touch make this book a really fun read.

In the introduction the author says, "... if you really can't stand the suspense, you can find out what a 'Slush Nugget' is on page 17." I won't be a spoiler, but suffice it to say that this guy can come up with an interesting essay about trash.

Open the book, and practically on any page you'll find something to chuckle about. What is remarkable about Mike Ball is that he can have you laughing out loud one moment, then two paragraphs later have you choking back tears.

In a world filled with bad news, bad behavior and bad books, Bikes, Docks & Slush Nuggets is like a breath of fresh air. You will love this book!

5Always good for a laugh  Jan 04, 2010
By Xanthe Muller "xanthemw"
This collection of Mike Ball's humorous syndicated columns is always good for a snort of laughter or a quick dose of amusement as he takes aim at the absurdities of ordinary life. I enjoyed many of these columns when they were first published, and I'm glad to get a chance to reread favorites and discover ones that I've missed. Mike Ball's point of view on the peculiarities of human nature makes me laugh (and sometimes sigh.) Highly recommended.

510 Star book  Nov 23, 2009
By Sharon J. Williams "druchak"
A perfect gift for anyone for Christmas, birthday, or just because. Mike is funny and makes you laugh; he is sensitive and makes you cry; he observes human nature and makes it come alive on the page. Mike is a wonderful writer who deserves to have his material published. Purchase this book for yourself or others and you won't go wrong.

5Humerous Book  Dec 26, 2010

Purchased as a gift. Since the recipient requested the book, it was well received and is about half read already which I believe attests to its goodness.
