Caren is an attractive and ambitious newspaper reporter engaged to marry her high school sweetheart. However, driven by loneliness due to his constant neglect, she has an affair with local councilman,Robert Turner, who she met during an interview. As a result, she becomes pregnant and tries to hide her infidelity by having an abortion.
