Where Boys go to Play

"A rollicking novel about a young man's coming of age during difficult times. Sensitive and tormented, sixteen-year-old high school freshman Ben Erickson is getting into so much mischief and mayhem that he is on the fast track to being sent to military school. Instead, Ben escapes, hightailing it to French Polynesia where his grandfather went missing during World War II. Stopped in Nicaragua, Ben discovers a world full of mystery, drugs, love, and death. But more importantly, he comes to realize what is truly important to him as he begins his journey from renegade youth to responsible adult."

5Excellent  Apr 29, 2009
By Andrew March
This book is filled with adventure, fun, and twists and turns that will blow your mind. Where Boys Go to Play is an instant classic that takes you on a trip that will not let you take your eyes away from the pages. It is a mix between "Catcher in the Rye" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". A true masterpiece written by a great author that I hope will have many more for years to come.

4Full of Adventure  May 30, 2009

Matthew Ward's debut novel is captivating from page one. This is an intelligent, well-researched "coming of age" story that whisks readers from the suburbs of Chicago to the back roads of Nicaragua to the wilderness of Colorado with its 16-year old protagonist, Ben. It's a book you will not want to put down.

5Excellent book  May 25, 2009

This is one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time......one of the ones that you start and don't put it down until you're done. Ward's style is refreshing and will certainly be one author to keep an eye on in the future.

5Exciting read from Matthew Ward  May 25, 2009

Where Boys go to Play

This is not my normal genre of books that I read, but this book was extremely entertaining and well-written. I was immediately drawn to the main character and really began to care about him from the start. It is a very relatable book for not only teen and young adult boys but also girls, as everyone questions who they truly are when they are growing up. This book was fabulous and really enjoyable to read, I really couldn't put it down until I finished it.
