I SO ENJOYED it!! I just couldn't put it down and found all of the aspects of Sequoia National Park just fascinating. I have heard a little about the park over the years, but the internal perspective makes me want to go there and explore ALL of the parts that the author describes... except for the tunnels he crawled through on his belly........no thanks!!

This book is a treasure and a must read for anyone who plans to travel there.

Thanks for the good read!

Difficult as it is to cover twenty-five years of highlights in a summer job as a Federal Park Ranger-Naturalist, Vaughn Folkman does an outstanding job. His stories capture the essence of those times and the harrowing personalized moments. The tales of bears under the cabin with his family inside to the living history evening program while Vaughn is preparing to introduce a ranger costumed as a Native American who is awaiting his call to the fireside is preempted by a lady with a great fear of Indians, only to find one in the wild lurking outside the campfire. The book is light reading and will produce fun memories of one's own outdoor and wilderness tales.

I enjoyed the book very much. The author is a college classmate and friend from 40 plus years ago.
