Why the Democrats Will Win in 2008: The Road to An Obama White House

Written by a New York financial analyst and fiscal conservative, Why the Democrats Will Win in 2008; the Road to an Obama White House is an unlikely mix of stock charts, interest rates and progressive thinking. It's a fascinating look at past presidential elections, the interplay between financial and political cycles and the rise of powerful personalities at key junctures in our history. Includes a recession timetable for the next 130 years and describes when America's next war is likely to be fought. Why the Democrats Will Win in 2008 ignores opinion polls to show the real reasons why the odds favor the Democratic Party in 2008. Includes broad policy recommendations on the use of military power and winning the fight against terrorism. A forceful polemic for the policies espoused by Senator Barack Obama and an analysis of his appeal to voters.

5DETAILED AND CONVINCING--A SOLID SCHOLARLY STUDY  Jul 23, 2008
The author draws from economic data and history, not opinion poll data, to support his case that economic data and a voter's sense of well-being figure prominently in election outcomes. It's a solid scholarly study.

Very interesting reading. Makes me look at things a little bit differently. He explains recessions and their effect on social mood and elections. He shows why Democrats and Republicans win elections and why Obama is the "man of the hour" at this time in history even if Clinton wins the nomination. He also gets into some forgotten labor movement history. Sometimes the book is hard to follow but overall its well done. +++++
