Willa Weep On A Garbage Heap

This satirical story of Willa Weep is both entertaining and edifying. Through the use of inanimate children's toys, animals and many characters whose lives carefully intertwine, the author adeptly tells the story of Willa Weep who was abandoned and left for dead as a newborn. The circumstances of and leading up to Willa's discovery as well as the search for a good home for her allow issues such as child neglect, racial inequities and drug abuse and trafficking to be addressed. The characters and circumstances in and around Willa's life are numerous but at the same time presented in a clear and delightful manner. Each character is given a depth that allows the reader to feel a somewhat personal relationship with them to the point that the reader can understand and sometimes predict a character's action--accept when the author masterfully creates a twist in the plot. The numerous events in Willa's life are presented clearly and compel the reader to keep turning the page in order to discover what will happen next. The author possesses the ability to introduce the reader to many different individuals and circumstances while at the same time providing a sense of logical continuity. New Jersey born and bred, Mr. Marcinak was a public school teacher and social worker for 32 years. While working, he never forgot his dream of becoming a writer, and when he retired, he began to make that goal a wonderful reality.
