Wisdom From the Streets

As a former teenage runaway on the streets of Seattle, Dr. Cecil writes about his true-life journey revealing the wisdom process needed to help both himself and others. Honest and often humorous, the book is written from two perspectives, both as the street kid and also as the therapist. It is a journey deep within a family therapist's own soul, and offers suggestions and encouragement to engage in the change process as we travel along our own path toward self-empowerment. In Wisdom from the Streets, Dr. Cecil offers wisdom and insight for: PARENTS who often feel frustrated and confused about how to have a good connection with their children at any age. TEENAGERS who often feel that no one listens or cares. ADULT CHILDREN OF DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES who have problems with relationships, feelings of failure, or just want to run away from it all. VICTIMS of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.

5Everyone Needs To Read This Book  Jul 19, 2010
By John McCulloch "John McCulloch"
Dr. Cecil's book is one of the more helpful books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down and read it through in one afternoon. "Wisdom From The Streets" will help parents raise their children, help anyone that has experienced abusive parents, or done things they are ashamed of, or help people who feel they are failures, etc.

Dr Cecil's own life goes from experiencing rock bottom to starting over and achieving success, through the school of hard knocks. The book will encourage anyone who feels down, rejected, enslaved to addiction, feels like they are failures, etc. If you want a read that will lift your spirits and encourage you, no matter what you are going through, get this book.

5Excellent book.  May 28, 2010
By Love My Library "Book Collector"
This book offers a very candid story of the life of Dr. Cecil.
It is rare for the patient to look inside and see the raw pictures of life that mold a great counselor/therapist. I would give this book to anyone in therapy.

5Loved this book  Nov 10, 2009
By Norma Buchanan "normagoose"
I met the author at Chico Hot Springs In Pray, Mt. one night after dinner and bought his book. I started reading that night and couldn't stop until I finished! This really is an amazing story and fun to read! Wisdom did indeed come to the author with his life experiences "on the street"!

5The best book I have read in a long time!!  Sep 28, 2009
By K. Fujii
I began reading this book one night, and was immediately engrossed.
The life of the author is of course very different from mine, yet some of our thought processes are amazingly similar. I laughed and cried with the book, and learned about my own life. When I finished reading it, I actually started it all over again! This is a book filled with the struggles of one's life, laughter, self discovery and love that everyone can relate to, and learn so much from. I highly recommend it!

5I loved it!  Sep 28, 2011
By C. Keller
Prior to reading this book it had been recommended to me by so many people, all saying how good of a book it is. After experiencing numerous crises's myself I read the book, and could'nt stop reading till I had finished. I could relate with the authors need to run and found the interplay between the authors present self and who he was as a "street kid" fascinating. I am happily anticipating the release of his second book.
