i found them, AT LAST Nov 13, 2008
By africanamericanhomeschoolcurriculum.com my three siblings and i learned to read with this series years and years ago. i have been frantically looking for them for my 3 (almost 4) year old son. this series makes it so easy to learn to read. i would have paid anything for them. i am so thankful to have found them. the pictures with the phonics make this a terrific way to teach children to read. Dr. Wise, thank you for your legacy.
Good, but Expensive! Mar 06, 2010
By A. Radabaugh I got this book based on a recommendation from a friend. The books (we've been through level 1 and level 2), are really good at helping a child to read. It takes a word like you and starts out with just "u" and the child can read it right away. Then on the next page, it adds the letters "yo" in an outline font and leaves the "u" in a dark font. The child just reads it without hesitation, then a few pages later the whole word "you" is written in the dark font and the child reads it. Being able to read without frustration gave my daughter, who's in Kindergarten, enthusiasm to read. She wants to read these books and feels great pride in being able to read to me. Prior to this, it was a struggle to get her to cooperate. The book also points out things for the parent/teacher to show the child about sounding out vowels and it gives an outline for practicing word endings. I truly love these books!! Unfortunately, I think they are WAY overpriced. There are many people who can't and won't spend that kind of money on a pretty small book. I never would have if my friend didn't highly recommend it. Because I've had success with the first two, I am going to get level 3--just wish is wasn't so much money. Money aside, I highly recommend this series of books.
