5Diversity in the Art of Words  Apr 04, 2007

Title: Diversity in the Art of Words

Wrapping Thoughts Beneath Emotive Rains by Cathy Delaleu is a beautifully written book of poetry.

Ms. Delaleu is very diverse in her poems. They are thought-provoking, poems of love, family, and darkness. She uses her Haitian background to add some flava of her culture
and incorporates an effective use of metaphors to describe things or feelings.

With 152 pages of poems, they are all so different. The range of the poems allowed me to hear her voice and feel the emotions of her style through this artistry of the written word.

If you love to read a variety of poetry, then I would highly recommend Wrapping Thoughts Beneath Emotive Rain. This is a book that may be read and appreciated for years.

5Powerfully Provocative Poet  Feb 12, 2007
By P. Davis "Jazzedd"
DeLaleu's style is at once shy and seductive and that balance comes through in the rich imagery and provacative rhythm of her language. Reading through WRAPPING THOUGHTS BENEATH EMOTIVE RAIN is much more than one stop reading. Each time I thumb through new music fills my ears and new images come to mind. This book is treat to the senses.

5Stimulating verses  Dec 30, 2006
By Stephen Bess "Stephen Bess"
I first came across Ms. Delaleu on her blog journal. I was captivated by her words and images so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that she had a book on the market! In her poetry beats the heart of a very passionate and sensitive human being. She has a wonderful way of getting her point across that is so appetizing and pleasing to the senses. My copy arrived just before Christmas so it was and early gift to myself. I saw Professor Sonia Sanchez speak recently and she stated that we needed more poetry about love and feelings. I hope that she gets to read Cathy's work. It will make her smile. It definitely made me smile. :)Thanks Cathy!

She is my next favorite poet.

5A Long-awaited Collection!  Jul 23, 2007
By Stephen E. Jordan II "Stephen Earley Jordan II, author of Beyond Bougie"
As a deliciously refreshing collection by accomplished poet Cathy Delaleu, "Wrapping Thoughts Beneath Emotive Rain" teases our 5 senses with each page turn.

Delaleu stays true to her Haitian heritage and keeps her family close in poem "Bowl of Gathered Thoughts" as she states, "Here Mom / Throw your childhood stories in this wide bowl / Fill it up with your Haitian history / I know Grandma is not here anymore / But I can still taste her pineapple kisses tattooed on your cheeks. . ."

A personal favorite "Kinky Roots and Rapture" seduces the reader with eloquent metaphors and similes: "If my garden is dry it's because you didn't finger it / You forgot to take a peek / To fill its soil with honey dust. . ."--leaving the reader moist in all the right places.

A contemporary voice and traditional style, Delaleu has delivered the long-awaited collection to the literary world. "Wrapping Thoughts Beneath Emotive Rain" poetically journeys and contrasts NYC, Haitian, and California customs; human sensuality, existence, and importantly purpose.
