X-Y=, Vol.1, No.1

We all know the power of a story. It moves us, bends us and changes us. How many times as a kid, and even now as an adult, have I been reborn in the clutches of a good story? Literature is like fire. It burns you and reforms you. You come out blackened at the edges, but you have been tempered and strengthened as well. In our investigation for the human soul words continue to play apart of our existence. What is life with out story? This is what we attempt to do in X-Y=, or even in the DreamLand books that are still to come. We seek to engage with the very realities of human life. Not because we are on a moralistic crusade or are out to prove a philosophical point. No, we do it because it's who we are. It is what we are about. We are storytellers. With X-Y= we acknowledge the power of words. There is not a single author in this collection that has not been somehow shaped by story. I read what they have written and I can tell that there is something going on there. Something bigger. We can only experience it here in literature. We can only encounter it the inner workings of mans mind laid out on paper.
