Great for Family Education! Jun 17, 2009 A must-have for any family going through the adoption process, or who have already brought home their new son/daughter. Also good for any expectant mother, as it focuses on the bond between a mother and her child.
As an educator of elementary students, I see great potential in this book for not only the mother, but also for whole families becoming aware of the adoption process, and preparing for the new arrival (be it baby, toddler, or otherwise). It helps to show the family bond that exists before the baby comes home, and could help other children become excited, as well.
Bright, colorful images throughout make this book a work of art, and a truly unique experience!
A great gift book for "expectant" mothers Apr 25, 2009 Any woman who has every wanted to become a mother understands the emotions involved in the process: Will I get pregnant? If so, when? If not, will I have to adopt a child? And, if so, where will my child come from? What will my child look like? What will my child be like?
Author Kimberly Leclerq shares her thoughts and emotions about the time she waited to "be a mother." She explains in the front pages: "This book was inspired by the very first letter I wrote to my child. At that time I didn't know how or when I would be a mom, I just knew." She writes about all her doubts, fears and questions during this time period, addressing the narrative to her unknown child. Sprinkled throughout the text is the phrase: "There were so many things I didn't know. BUT, I KNEW you were my baby."
The book is illustrated with pages filled with vibrant colors and patterns. The pages remind me somewhat of a scrapbook. The text can be thought of as the pictures.
This is a great book to share with your little ones about the time you waited for them to come into your life. It's also a great book to give as a gift to an "expectant" mother. 5 stars.
