I just completed reading You.Next() by Mike Finley and Honza Fedak and I would suggest an alternate title for this read: "A Handbook and Guide for Managing Geeks". Mike and Honza show insights from their real-world experience, which is evident by the small "management use case" that the team inserts to emphasize key points of the book. I particularly found the chapter on "Delegation"; a key concept that most new managers from the technical side don't grasp, and the chapter on "Difficult Situations" to be well thought-out "guides" to navigating both areas. I would recommend to any new (or aspiring) software development manager that they pick up a copy of "You.Next()" read it, and then keep it handy! I've forwarded a copy on to one of the new managers within my own organization with this same advice.
