A brief overview Sep 30, 2010
By Becky Rivera It did have a broad range of topics that you should consider when looking at a sales career, lots of stuff I never thought about. The down side to the book was that it wasn't very meaty. It briefly talked about each topic but not much in detail. It would bring up the topic of travel. Some jobs or industries will require more or less and you need to decide where you stand on that issue. This was great but then once I decided what I would like, there is no resource or list of industries that are more one or the other. This is the way the book is on almost every topic. He would describe a situation and mention that there are lots of different industries, career paths, company's and jobs out there but then he would not really specify which ones might lean which ways. So like I said it gives you lots to think about what you want and are looking for but then doesn't point you in the right direction once you have figured that out. He leaves you with lots of homework to do.
One point that I really liked was asking detailed questions and for information or experiences during the interviewing process. Too many times it feels like the company is interviewing the candidate but not the other way around. I have done lots of interviewing and I think it would be nice to talk to a candidate who had knowledge of the company and asked questions, engaging the interviewer. This way the candidate shows they care about making sure it is a good fit for them as well as a good fit for the company.

"Sales Executive"
A must read for those trying to get into sales or pursuing a sales job change. A good read as well as a lifelong reference manual. Identify the RIGHT sales job, be prepared for the interview and negotiate the best compensation package.
