Full Color Cover Design Templates
Below
are examples of the cover design templates offered with the Author's Advantage Publishing Program.
To show how these designs can be utilized, they are shown with sample backgrounds
and graphics added.
When considering, and choosing, a Cover Design Template, remember:
- You get to
choose your cover's background color. The color of your cover's text will be black or white, depending on the cover background color you select.
- You can provide
your own cover graphic, if applicable. This graphic must be at least 300 dpi and meet the size required for your selected template and trim size. The image size is determined by the cover template and cannot be changed. View our Template Cover Image Submission Specifications for additional information.
- The font, font size and appearance of your book's title, subtitle (if applicable and/or accommodated by your selected template) and author name are determined by the template you select and cannot be changed.
- If you are selecting either the 8.25" x 8.25" or 8.25" x 6" trim size for your full-color interior book, we recommend cover templates 3, 10 and 11. If you wish to use any other templates for these trim sizes, note the final cover will not appear exactly as shown here, as these templates are created for books with a portrait orientation.If you select a cover template other than 3, 10 or 11 for your 8.25” x 8.25” or 8.25” x 6” full-color interior book, our graphic designers will create a cover for your book using the style shown here and accommodating the square or landscape orientation of your book.

Cover Template 1: Box Design with Large Image
Font: Garamond
A very traditional
design which can be used with any type of background.
This cover design does not accommodate a subtitle.

Allows a large cover image while maintaining a strong typographic presence
for title and author name.
All trim sizes
have bleed on the face (outside edge) of the cover.
This cover design does not accommodate a subtitle.

Cover Template 3: Single Background Image with Traditional Typography
Font: Hoeffler
Perfect
layout for full-cover images that will provide a background for the front, spine
and back covers of the book. Title, author name, spine text, bar code and back
cover text will be placed in standard locations. This template is recommended for 8.25” x 8.25” and 8.25” x 6” full-color interior books.
This choice requires a transparent background color. This background will
automatically be selected for you with this option.
This cover design does not accommodate a subtitle.

high-impact design which accentuates the title while drawing the eye to a central
image. This template is perfect for the author who does not have a large image or wishes to have minimal graphics on the cover.

Cover Template 10: Full Front Cover
Backcover Font: Centaur MT
This option is perfect for
those who wish to supply a full front cover image, with title and author name
included as part of the image. Your image will be placed appropriately for the
front cover, while your selected background and standard spine and back cover
will be formatted according to our template. No front cover text will be added
with this image option, so everything to be included must be part of the image
supplied.
This template is recommended for 8.25” x 8.25” and 8.25” x 6” full-color interior books.
This cover design does not accommodate a subtitle.

This cover option accommodates a large, centered image with a sans-serif typography. This option is also ideal if you would like to include a subtitle on your cover. This template is recommended for 8.25” x 8.25” and 8.25” x 6” full-color interior books.
