never go trekking

Penelope always assumed her love of writing would lead to gainful employment and her passion for travel would involve Louis Vuitton luggage. Instead, she found herself in London’s financial district crunching numbers and pushing paper. But, after four years of over-indulgence, Canary Wharf lost its luster and Person under the train filled her more with contempt than compassion. It was time to leave the Big Smoke. Time to change comfort zones. Time to trade Prada for Karrimor. Time to backpack around Southeast Asia. On a budget! never go trekking was born of a physical and emotional journey that was as unsettling as it was liberating. It is a humorous account of everything that can go wrong and right on a 7-month journey with no real itinerary and often no real clue.

By Mark Peter Stiebel
A very funny account of travels around Asia and Africa and the many lessons found. The book gives a refreshing look at the many stops on the way and it's inspiring that a couple got off the London ratrace treadmill and look time off to trek around the world and have an adventure.

The book is a diary of these travels and how Penelope Van Maasdyk coped with hardly any of the luxuries which we take for granted on a daily basis. The book also gives great insights into many places so if you're travelling through Nepal, India, China, Vietnam, Australia or South Africa then this could give some great details of other travellers' experiences.

This book shows that adventures are still possible.
