Delicious Healthful Dishes! What more could I ask? Jun 24, 2009 When I opened Kelly's book and saw she already had a grocery list of items in the front, I knew I was home! I collect (and use) cookbooks and have hundreds and have always loved to cook. Since I'm now 10 weeks gluten-free (and 13 pounds lighter!), I was more than happy to work with The Sweet Truth! Yes, it took some time to adjust to all the weird language and ingredients and I did have to search through Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to find some specialty items over the past 10 weeks, but now I have a fully-stocked, healthy cabinet! My two teens don't even know that the desserts they have been devouring are GF! Beef bourguignon last night had GF baking mix for a thickener instead of flour and no one but me knew the difference.... I figure, it took me a lot of years to get to where I am today, it will take me a bit to adjust to how I cook going forward for me and my family. The extra time and effort are well worth the investment for my entire familiy's health. KEEP ON COOKING!

Great ideas! Mar 08, 2009 I really like the content of this book. The printing is a little amateurish. I have not tried any of the recipes, but they look great. I don't have much time to experiment with little ones running around, but I do think that I'll be using this book for reference for years to come.

It sounded like a good idea Feb 11, 2009 The author provides a list of "must have" ingredients to always have on hand - but most all of the recipes call for items that are not on the list and these items are not run-of-the-mill grocery store stock. Many of the recipes seem to be quite involved. For example, the chocolate chip cookie recipes not only involve mixing the dough - but also require freezing the cookies on the cookie sheets for 30 minutes before baking. I don't know about you, but I don't have that much freezer space. When the author tells me to pull out my dehydrater to prepare fruit for her recipes, I put the book aside. I am not a professional cook. I need good recipes that don't consume a lot of time to make and that are practical. These recipes may produce great food, if you have hours to devote to the process. The book is expensive compared to others, so unless you have a lot of time and close proximity to a natural foods market, I would not invest in it.

Not so sweet Dec 28, 2008 In this cookbook I expected to find practical recipes. There were too many strange ingredients that didnt even sound good. The sweetner choices werent much better. I didnt find any of the recipes appetizing or compatible with our diet. We are on a gluten free casein free diet and we are trying for sugar free. This book wouldve been better using more stevia or erythritol.
mmmmmm Aug 24, 2008 So far so good. The sugar cookies are really good and filling. Most all of the ingredients were at the local natural food store with one exception but it is fine. I am looking forward to trying the rest of the recipes and the health benefits to overcome my own sugar addiction.
