Long time friends Leslie and Liz are smart, talented and successful women. In their mid-fifties, the two have what many in their Baby Boomer generation have striven for: successful careers, beautiful homes, country club memberships, and financial security. In fact, they have everything mature women could want, including loving (if sometimes clueless) husbands. But lately, something seems not quite right. The two self-crowned “Queens” often talk and dream of shucking the mantles of their corporate and suburbia worlds, where people and circumstances require them to pretend to be people they aren’t. And they’ve joked for years about running away in a motor home. But they never did. Until on one ordinary day, and after some impulsive, secret preparations, and brief notes to their families, the two pack up their newly acquired motor home, and begin the long awaited adventure they’ve dreamed of for so long. The road life they adopt teems with new experiences, new friends, and many challenges. But that’s not all. For along the way, it is not just their original plans and dreams that are altered. Their very lives and relationships take on new meaning, as well. But with this experience and adventure comes yet more questions to be answered. Should they stay on the road? Will their husbands ever understand? Will they be safe? What else waits beyond that horizon? And most importantly, can they or will they ever go home again?

5Laughable, Loveable, and Believable; a gem!  Feb 10, 2010
What do best friends, a homeless woman with a mysterious past, a good-hearted trucker, an intuitive dog, a misguided young man, and a neglected young girl have in common? The Silver Queen Screamer for starters. With a cast of wildly opposite personalities, plus a host of many others, this was one of the most hilarious and heart-warming adventures I've read in a long, long time.

Leslie, a highly intelligent, professional baby boomer seemed to have it all; good job, plenty of money, the perfect husband (although a bit "stale") loving son, beautiful home and new car. What more could a girl want?

Unhappy, stressed to the max, and unfulfilled, yet not knowing why, this diva's life is turned upside down when she gets the unthinkable--the proverbial pink slip. For Leslie, this was a wake-up call and a second chance to live her dream.

Before you can say baby boomer, Leslie calls her best friend and co-dreamer, Liz, and together they purchase an RV named, Silver Queen Screamer, leave notes at home saying"taking a vacation from life," and then set off on the most selfishly delightful, inspiring, and even sometimes dangerous adventures.

Liz and Leslie learn so much about life, themselves, and each other. They discover what's really important is sometimes staring you in the face if you take the time to love and appreciate what you have, and practice with a grateful heart.

Author Fero surely wrote [...] for every woman in the world who has ever dreamed of running away from it all. Go ahead; run away with Leslie and Liz and experience the adventures, and even discover new things about your own desires...all from the comfort of your own Silver Queen Screamer called home. I loved this book. It doesn't get any better than this!

5So Much Fun  Sep 10, 2009
I bought this book after purchasing my first motorhome. It seemed to be written for me. I have never laughted so much when reading a book as I did with this one. It is hysterically funny, deeply moving and left me wanting more. It was great to get the 'left behind' husbands' veiw of this trip throughout the story.

5These Chicks Teach Us That Losing A Job Can Help Find Perspective  Mar 16, 2009

These chicks learn that life happens when you're making other plans. Without missing a beat, Leslie and Liz hit the road in their "motor yacht" in search of adventure after life deals them a detour. Living the song, "Take This Job and Shove It", the two characters in Patt Fero's hilarious novel quickly learn the rules of the road. Sometimes funny and sometimes sad, each stop along their trek teaches life lessons for all of us riding shotgun. Jump onboard and enjoy this ride, you'll be sad when the journey is over but somehow I think we'll see these 2 again. I hope so.

5Crowning and Clowning  Mar 02, 2009
This was just what I needed for an escapist novel. The two characters, who are quite believable because they seem real, bumble their way through many misadventures. They manage to land on their feet with unexpected results each time. I can't wait for the sequel.

5This book is fabulous!  Dec 28, 2008
I love this book! Based on the content alone, I bought 2 copies: one for me, and one for my best friend. I can picture the both of us in many of the predicaments the two characters find themselves in, and laugh loudly throughout every chapter I read. Patt Fero writes in easy-reading style, interwoven w/ lots of humor. I can't wait to read her sequels...
